Mesa Road Rising Stewards Scholarship
One Monterey Bay Section FFA member each year · awarded annually
Why this exists
Named for the ranch road that leads to our barn — and for the belief that the next generation of agricultural leaders should include students who expand access for peers with disabilities, not leave them behind.
The story behind the name
The first time a Gateway Center group visited with our miniature Highlands, we watched adults with developmental disabilities light up in a way no brochure can describe. KSBW Action News 8 covered that day. It reminded us: agriculture is for everyone who wants a place in it. This scholarship invests in an FFA student who demonstrates that same belief — through SAE projects, chapter leadership, or personal experience with disability and accessibility in ag education.
Who should apply
- Active FFA member in the Monterey Bay Section (or adjacent Central Coast chapter)
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive agriculture, special-needs advocacy, or accessible ag education
- Strong SAE or community service record
- Essay + advisor recommendation (application details released each spring)
Application rhythm
Each spring we publish the full packet for Monterey Bay Section FFA members and advisors. Selection considers SAE depth, chapter leadership, and a short essay on inclusive agriculture. One award. One student. Real impact.
